My name is Helen Maher. I teach online piano, accordion and music theory lessons and I am also a versatile performer with a wealth of experience.

My musical journey began at the piano, later expanded to the guitar, and ultimately found its home in the accordion – an instrument that perfectly matched my love of travel, culture, and musical exploration.

After graduating with a BA Hons in Music from Dartington College of Arts, I was trained and mentored by twice world champion accordionist Pearl Fawcett-Adriano. I have spent more than 30 years balancing a career in teaching and performance, sharing my love of music with students and audiences alike.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in kindness, patience, and structured progress. I understand that mastering an instrument takes time, which is why I break down lessons into manageable, achievable goals. Every lesson is tailored to the individual, ensuring students enjoy measurable results without the pressure.

As a performer, I pride myself on being professional, friendly, patient and reliable. I create atmosphere, energy, and memorable moments for the audience. Whether providing elegant background music for a champagne reception or leading a lively ceilidh that fills the dance floor, I tailor every performance to the occasion.

Whether you’re looking for online piano, accordion or music theory lessons or live music for a special event, I’d be delighted to discuss your requirements. Please contact me to book or if you have any questions.

‘Helen is a wonderful teacher, really patient and clear. She’s really interested in what I want to play and has helped me play the music I enjoy. I look forward to Helen’s lessons every week, they are never a chore. I highly recommend Helen – she’s very talented and knowledgeable and brings a lot of experience to her teaching. I’ve dabbled over the years but have never mastered things like reading music or playing with both hands at the same time – Helen focused on my goals and I’ve made a lot of progress in a short time.’
